Core Values

BIRTH MATTERS
BREASTFEEDING
COMMUNITY

We believe that the quality and experience of birth and early parenthood have far-reaching consequences for individual families, and society as a whole. This critical period of transition presents a unique opportunity for personal growth and transformation.

EDUCATION

Childbirth Education classes are available monthly. Cost is $85 and the next one is March 5, 2022 from 9-2.  Call Julie at 814-512-2718 to sign up.  Payment can be made @Julie-Thompson-73 (This service is not covered through Labor of Love)

We provide education, advocacy, and support so that mothers who want to breastfeed will have every opportunity to have a successful and joyful experience. We encourage all mothers to consider breastfeeding for the first year of the infant's life if possible.  We have lactation support people that we can refer to if needed.

We endorse the Ten Steps of the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiatives as developed by the national Coalition to Improve Maternity Services (CIMS). This initiative promotes the MIdwifery Model of Care and breastfeeding as optimal for mothers and babies.

PREGNANCY AND BIRTH AS NORMAL LIFE EVENTS

We foster the development of supportive communities of childbearing families and professionals who serve them and want to provide a space for this community to thrive.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

We recognize that families will benefit from the specialized care and support during pregnancy, labor and birth, and the postpartum adjustment period that doulas provide. Therefore, we are committed to making doulas widely available to all families. When mothers are nurtured, they become better nurturers.
